Ryan Santos
In June 2021, 34-year-old Ryan Yukiharu Santos was shot and killed by police officers in Hilo, Hawaii.
Officers were responding to a call about a domestic incident. They entered Santos’ house and he allegedly left one of the rooms with a semi-automatic rifle and began firing at officers. The police retreated, and one of the officers opened fire at Santos and killed him.
The paramedics arrived at the scene performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation, but it did not work. Santos was pronounced dead at the scene. In addition, it is reported that during the shooting, the 91-year-old grandfather of Santos, who was in the next room, died.
The police department is investigating the case, and the police officers involved in Santos’ murder have been placed on administrative leave.
