Savannah Graziano
Savannah Graziano, a 15-year-old kidnapping victim was shot and killed by police officers in California as she moved toward them to escape her abductor father. The video of the incident, released only after journalists requested it under California’s public records law, became public and caused shock.
Police previously claimed that the 15-year-old Savannah girl was shot because she was wearing tactical gear and returned fire. However, the footage proves that she was unarmed and followed police orders. San Bernadino County police tried to pull over her father Anthony Graziano’s vehicle. Newly released footage captured by a camera from a Sheriff’s Department helicopter shows police blocking Anthony Graziano’s vehicle while he tries to back up into the road.
The 15-year-old Savannah girl gets out of the car and an officer says over the radio, “The girl got out of the car. She got out of the passenger side.” She crouches down and begins to move quickly toward the officers as a gunshot suddenly rings out and Savannah Graziano’s body appears in the footage. Sheriff’s deputies were not wearing body cameras, but an audio recording made by an officer who was next to the girl as she exited the car was released.
