Brent Thompson
Brent Thompson, a 28-year-old from Larimer County, Colorado, USA, was struck by a police officer with a taser near a highway, lost consciousness and was fatally struck by a passing car.
On the evening of February 18, 2024, Larimer County, Colorado, USA, Larimer County Sheriff’s Deputy Lorenzo Lujan stopped the vehicle of 28-year-old Brent Thompson on I-25 for an ID check. As seen in the video, Thompson rushed to flee after Lujan informed him that he was being arrested. A police officer chased Thompson toward the highway firing a stun gun after Thompson jumped over a guardrail on the side of the road, he passed out on the highway and was hit by a passing SUV.
Thompson can be heard moaning as Lujan handcuffed him and then dragged him face down from the roadway to the curb. Thompson was taken to the Medical Center, where doctors pronounced him dead.
Thompson’s family’s attorney, Rathod, called the incident “negligent homicide” and Lujan’s actions “criminally negligent” and “deviating from the standard of care”

“When you hit someone with a stun gun on the highway, it’s a death sentence. It’s by definition,” says attorney Siddhartha Rathod of Rathod Mohamedbhai LLC. “You know what’s going to happen, and that’s that he’s going to get run over by a car.”
CASE STATUS:
The Initiative Group has asked US President Joseph Biden and Attorney General Merrick Garland for clarification on the current case. The Initiative Group considers it important to fight police brutality and can provide legal and informational assistance to Brent Thompson’s family if necessary.
