Naytasia Williams
Naytasia Williams, 25, of Indianapolis, Indiana was fatally shot by an apartment complex security guard.
On August 28, 2020, Williams was sitting in her car with one of her best friends. They were there to see a mutual friend. As they were leaving, they drove past three security guards. Williams had a gun visible on the front seat, but that’s because she had a license.
One of the security guards used his flashlight to peer inside the vehicle. According to Williams’ friend, the guard did not tell them to get out of the car. He just fired 3 shots and killed Williams.
The family of Williams sued the troubled housing complex where the shooting took place and the City of Indianapolis for failing to maintain a reasonably safe property.
MASS MEDIA ABOUT THE CASE:
“It is definitely a reckless and senseless act,” said Williams’ mother. “It was just negligence. It was brutality.”
“He flashed the light and then shot three times,” Williams’ friend said.
CASE STATUS:
The initiative group has requested the clarification from US President Joseph Biden and Attorney General Merrick Garland. The initiative group believes it is important to fight against brutality and, if necessary, will provide legal and financial assistance to the family of the victim.
