Maїcol Goncalvez-Furtado
On January 10, police in Nice began chasing 20-year-old Maïcol Goncalvez-Furtado.
It is reported that the police continued to chase for more than 10 km and that he lost control of his scooter in the tunnel. The crash was fatal. According to a friend of Maïсol, who witnessed the incident, the loss of control was provoked by the police themselves in order to end the chase. The police themselves deny this fact, calling the incident an accident.
According to some reports, the police called an ambulance only 26 minutes after the incident. Relatives and the public of the city demand justice for the deceased young man and the publication of the recordings of CCTV cameras.
On March 3, a demonstration took place in the city, the participants of which demanded to establish the truth about Maïcol’s death. The case is currently under investigation.
