Dreasjon Reed
Dreasjon Reed, 21, was shot and killed by police officers in Indianapolis, Indiana.
According to police, in May 2020, police officers noticed Reed’s car, which was exceeding the speed limit. Officers initiated a pursue. In a few minutes Reed stopped his car.
Police say there was an altercation between Reed and officers when he got out of the car. After that he tried to escape. Officers used Taser on him. Reed was livestreaming the incident on Facebook. After officers used Taser, several gunshots can be heard in the video.
In June 2021, Reed’s mother filed a lawsuit against the city and the police department.

The lawsuit claims Reed “presented no immediate threat to Officer Mercer or anyone else”.

“It’s a blatant cover-up of an unjust murder in broad daylight,” said Elayne Rivers, a spokesperson for The Law Firm of Fatima Johnson, which represents Reed’s family. “We have sufficient evidence that shows that the murder was completely unnecessary.”

The initiative group has requested the clarification from US President Joseph Biden and Attorney General Merrick Garland. The initiative group believes it is important to fight against police brutality and, if necessary, will provide legal and financial assistance to the family of the victim.
