Curtis Crosland
Curtis Crosland of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, spent 30 years in prison for a murder he didn’t commit.
The charge against Crosland was based solely on the testimony of two witnesses who either recanted their testimony or failed to appear in court.
The District Attorney’s office found that the police concealed the results of a polygraph test, a statement by the witness’s wife that he had identified another man as the perpetrator, and a letter from the same witness to a homicide detective asking for help in exchange for information. In addition, it was also found that another witness had also fabricated his testimony against Crosland, alleging that detectives had come to his home threatening to arrest him if he did not testify.
In June 2021, all charges against Crosland were dropped. He plans to use his knowledge and experience to help free other innocent people.
