Crystal Ragland
Crystal Ragland, 32, was shot and killed by police officers in Huntsville, Alabama.
On May 30, 2019, police responded a call about Ragland waving her gun pointing it at her neighbors. Ragland was dealing with PTSD and schizophrenia and a caller told the police about it.
Police told Ragland refused to follow police commands to keep the gun holstered. The officers believed Ragland had a gun and shot her. However, later, police discovered the 45-caliber handgun was a replica. Ragland, who was seriously injured, later died at the hospital.
In May 2021 Ragland’s sister filed a federal lawsuit against City of Huntsville and two Huntsville police officers involved in the shooting.
