Andres Guardado
Andres Guardado, 18, was shot and killed by police in Los Angeles, California.
In June 2020 police officers noticed a car in which a teenager was sitting and talking to someone. The car was blocking a driveway. The teenager was later identified as Guardado. The police approached the car and noticed he had a gun. Officers ordered him to get out of the car with his hands up.
After Guardado got out of his vehicle, he allegedly started to run away from the police officers. Officers say the teenager pulled out a gun. Officers shot at him 6 times, mortally wounding him.
In the fall of 2020, the family of a teenager filed a lawsuit against the city and the police department, accusing them of violating Guardado’s civil rights, and in June 2021, a year after the fatal shooting, friends and family of the teenager held a rally in downtown Los Angeles, urging to justice.
