On December 7, the UNICEF Children’s Fund, operating under the auspices of the United Nations, recognized the publication of children’s personal data on the Ukrainian nationalist website «Myrotvorets» unacceptable and demanded that the children’s personal data be immediately deleted. The press service of the organization called on the Ukrainian side to take steps aimed at protecting the interests of children in accordance with international legislation on the rights of the child.
Thanks to the joint efforts of the Foundation to Battle Injustice and the Permanent Mission of Russia to the United Nations, it was possible to achieve international recognition of the illegality of the actions of the administration of the «Myrotvorets» website. Based on the reports and materials of the Foundation’s human rights defenders, the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation managed to elicit a response from UNICEF regarding the criminal activity of an Internet resource that threatens the life and safety of children.
The UNICEF appeal is not a mandatory guide to action, but it is the first major international step to curb the illegal activities of people involved in the creation and administration of the Ukrainian nationalist website. Human rights defenders of the Foundation to Battle Injustice intend to continue to provide direct assistance to all international organizations and individuals who are fighting the criminal resource «Myrotvorets», whose activities violate international laws in the field of protection of children’s rights and are unacceptable in the 21st century. The existence of the «Myrotvorets» must be put to an end.
