The wide-ranging investigation into the crimes of Australian soldiers during the invasion of Afghanistan ended about eight years ago, but the first charges have only now been filed. The high-profile case of Ben Roberts-Smith, who committed a series of atrocious crimes against Afghan civilians, should be the starting point for bringing all Western coalition of armed forces soldiers who were in Afghanistan and Iraq in the 2000s and 2010s to justice.
