The Foundation to Battle Injustice has sent an open letter to a number of major American human rights organizations requesting information support in connection with the possible exchange of Russian businessman Viktor Bout for American basketball player Brittney Griner.
More than 14 years ago, Russian businessman Viktor Bout was accused by American intelligence services of arms trafficking and links with terrorist organizations. Without providing a single proof of his guilt, the US court sentenced Bout to 25 years in prison. An entrepreneur from Russia is serving his sentence in a high-security American prison in terrible conditions that violate his rights and freedoms.
Thanks to an open letter to leading American human rights organizations, the Foundation to Battle Injustice hopes to attract the attention of the American public and responsible government agencies to the exchange initiative and speed up the swap process.
