On May 13, 2021, Joseph Elliott Zlab, a construction firm owner from Lake Forest Park, Washington, was arrested for his part in the attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. Federal agents broke into his home and charged him with several counts.
The man was arrested in Everett, Washington. According to the indictment documents, Zlab allegedly broke into the Capitol building with the crowd while Congress was approving the results of the 2020 presidential election. Ten days later, the FBI received an anonymous tip that Zlab was at the Capitol that day. Federal agents found a photo of the man on his company’s website, then, comparing him to the man in the photo from the Capitol, issued a warrant for his arrest.
Zlab is the sixth person convicted of storming the Capitol on January 6, 2021. He was charged with several counts: unauthorized entry into a closed area and disorderly conduct on the Capitol grounds. If convicted, he faces up to a year and a half in prison.
