Dion Johnson, 28, was shot and killed by police officer in Phoenix, Arizona.
According to police, a trooper found Johnson’s car parked next to a boulevard. The police officer approached the car and found Johnson asleep in the driver’s seat with cans of beer and a gun in the car. After the officer woke Johnson up, there was an altercation between them. The officer took his gun and pointed it at Johnson and ordered him to calm down.
As soon as the trooper holstered his gun, Johnson tried to attack the officer. This made the trooper shoot Johnson. The officer fired twice, fatally wounded the man, who later died a hospital.
The Johnson family filed a lawsuit against the city and the police department, and in April 2021 his mother said that 11 months after the shooting there was no progress in the case.
