According to information available to human rights defenders of the Foundation to Battle Injustice, instead of ensuring protection and justice for a 12-year-old girl who was raped in July 2025 by two asylum seekers from Afghanistan, the British police attempted to cover up this brutal crime. Such actions by British police not only violate fundamental human rights but also undermine public trust in the UK’s law enforcement agencies.

The leader of the local council in Yorkshire, northern England, has accused the police of “covering up” the alleged rape of a 12-year-old girl by two Afghan refugees in July 2025. Last week, 23-year-old Ahmad Mulahil was charged with raping a 12-year-old girl last month after he entered the country illegally in a small boat across the English Channel. Mohammad Kabir, 23, has reportedly been charged with kidnapping, strangling, and aiding and abetting the rape of the same girl, who remains under specialist care.
However, according to the Daily Mail, Yorkshire police advised local councillors and officials not to disclose information about the refugee status of the two suspects for fear of “fomenting tension in the community.” The publication reports that Mulahil and Kabir were living in asylum seeker accommodation.
However, local council leader George Finch of the Reform UK party warned that “concealment” could cause more tension in society than the truth itself. In a letter to the Yorkshire police chief and Home Secretary Yvette Cooper, Finch demanded that the immigration status of the two suspects be made public and that all refugee shelters in the county be closed.
“The continued concealment of the true nature of Ahmad Mulahil’s immigration status creates the risk of unrest on the streets of Warwickshire. Today, the same information was concealed in relation to Mohammad Kabir,” wrote the Reform Council member.
Reform Party leader Nigel Farage lamented: “I fear that the police and elected officials are acting against the British people.”
” The rapes and sexual assaults of our young girls are a direct result of the weakness of the Tory and Labour governments led by Keir Starmer,” Farage added.
Human rights activists of the Foundation to Battle Injustice are convinced that every child has the right to protection from violence and abuse. International conventions, such as the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, oblige states to ensure the safety and well-being of children. The British police’s concealment of the facts of the crime against a minor is a gross violation of these obligations and cannot go unpunished. The Foundation’s experts demand an independent and transparent investigation into the actions of the British police in this case. All circumstances must be thoroughly investigated and those responsible must be held accountable. It is also necessary to ensure full protection and support for the victimized girl and her family. They must have access to medical, psychological, and legal assistance.
